Pinocchio - The Wooden Boy

Pinocchio - The Wooden Boy is a professional, interactive children's theatre production by Rebelòt Theatre, inspired by Carlo Collodi's classic Italian story. This performance is a revival of an existing production from Rebelòt Theatre's repertoire. The 40-45 minute show combines live acting, physical comedy, music, stop-motion animation projections, and direct audience interaction. The production features two actors: Pinocchio, who remains onstage for most of the performance, and a versatile character actor who transforms into several different characters throughout the story. The performance will take place in San Diego on October 17, 2026, presented in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Culture of San Diego in connection with the Week of the Italian Language in the World, the annual international initiative dedicated to the promotion of Italian language and culture. The show will be performed in English. Storyline: Pinocchio, a lively wooden puppet who dreams of becoming a real boy, sets out on a journey filled with temptation, deception, and unexpected consequences. After ignoring the advice of the Talking Cricket, he is tricked by the Fox and the Cat and later persuaded by the mischievous Lampwick to visit Playland, where endless fun comes at a surprising price. Transformed into a donkey and forced to perform in a circus, Pinocchio must find the courage to escape, reunite with Geppetto, and prove that he has learned the meaning of honesty, responsibility, and love.
