Mr. Nawashi

Mr. Nawashi marks the first film in the Dogma 25 cinema movement, with director Isabella Eklöf bringing a deeply personal project to the screen. The film follows Katarina, a talented singer lacking self-discipline, who discovers a BDSM relationship with the mysterious Mr. Nawashi that evolves from attraction into obsession. Eklöf directs from her own handwritten script, with newcomer Tanya Holm Andersen starring opposite Danish actor Esben Smed. The production is being made under strict Dogma 25 rules, including no internet in the creative process and a one-year deadline to complete the film. Zentropa produces in collaboration with DR and Nordisk Film Distribution, with Netflix co-financing and handling Nordic streaming distribution after theatrical release. The film is currently in production with locations across Denmark, Sweden, and the Caribbean, targeting a 2027 theatrical premiere.
