Project Summary
La Regenta is a Netflix feature film that began production on October 23, 2026, bringing a contemporary female perspective to one of Spain's most celebrated 19th-century novels. Director Mar Coll, whose film Salve María won a Special Mention at the 2024 Locarno Film Festival, helms the adaptation with a script co-written by Coll, Anna R. Costa, and Diego Vega. Ester Expósito stars as Ana Ozores, joined by International Emmy winner Oriol Pla, Vito Sanz, Borja Luna, and veteran Ana Torrent. The production is led by María Zamora at Elastica Films, the company behind Golden Bear winner Alcarràs and other acclaimed Spanish cinema. This marks the first collaboration between Elastica Films and Netflix, positioning the project as one of Spain's most anticipated films for 2027.
