Just a Kid

Just a Kid (Bara barn) is an Icelandic coming-of-age feature written and directed by Vala Ómarsdóttir in her feature debut. The project is produced by veteran Icelandic producer Hlín Jóhannsdóttir through Ursus Parvus, with Estonian co-producer Marianne Ostrat of Alexandra Film, known for the Sundance-winning Smoke Sauna Sisterhood. French-UK sales outfit Alief has boarded international sales ahead of the film's Works in Progress pitch at New Nordic Films in Haugesund on August 27. The production received funding from the Icelandic Film Centre, RÚV, Nordisk Film & TV Fond, and Estonian tax rebates, with Max handling theatrical release in Iceland. The film draws on Ómarsdóttir's research into contemporary teenage experience and features a rehearsal-driven approach with the young ensemble cast.
