Josephine Baker Biopic (Untitled)

StudioCanal is gearing up for production on an untitled Josephine Baker biopic starring FKA twigs in the title role. Director Maïmouna Doucouré, who won the directing award at Sundance for Cuties, is writing and directing the project, which marks the first major Baker film to receive full endorsement from the entertainer's estate. Production companies Bien ou Bien Productions and CPB Films are producing alongside StudioCanal. The film is scheduled to shoot from September through December in Paris and Hungary, with casting currently underway. StudioCanal will handle theatrical distribution across its core territories including the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Benelux, Poland, Australia, and New Zealand. The project has been in development since 2022 with the support of Baker's sons and her Rainbow Tribe of adopted children.
