Hello Kitty has found its directors in David Derrick Jr. and John Aoshima, marking a major creative milestone for the long-in-development animated feature from Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and New Line Cinema. The film brings Hello Kitty to the Hollywood big screen for the first time in the character's 50-year history. Beau Flynn produces through FlynnPictureCo. , with former Paramount Animation president Ramsey Naito joining as producer. Jeff Chan is writing the current screenplay. The project represents the first time Sanrio has granted film rights to Hello Kitty and other popular characters from its universe to a major studio. With new directors aboard and a July 2028 theatrical release set, the production is actively assembling its creative team.
