Bloodwood

Bloodwood is a psychological thriller preparing for principal photography in Peru and Kenya. Director Robert Menzies makes his feature debut with an original screenplay adapted from his own novel, leading a cast headed by Garret Dillahunt, Michelle Hurd, and Henry Ian Cusick. The film follows Jake, a man who ventures into the Amazon rainforest seeking vengeance against a trafficker responsible for his wife's death, only to find himself drawn into a hallucinatory descent alongside a wildlife veterinarian with secrets of her own. Production comes from a team including Menzies, Anjul Nigam, Jordan Gianneschi and Jacob Rice for J2 Productions, Carmelo Chimera with Act One Media, and Lisanne Marks Canty from Harrington Legacy Media. Filming is scheduled to begin in Peru between June and July 2026, with a second production phase in Kenya's Maasai Mara in September. Essential Film Group is handling worldwide sales, launching the project at the Cannes Film Festival market.
