Altadena: One Fire After Another

Altadena: One Fire After Another is a feature documentary currently in post-production, chronicling the long-term aftermath of the January 2025 Eaton Fire that devastated Altadena, California. Executive producer David Gelber, a former 60 Minutes producer and creator of the Emmy-winning Years of Living Dangerously, has partnered with climate journalist Bill McKibben to examine what happens after disaster strikes. The film is produced and directed by Jonathan Scheinberg and produced and edited by Vanessa Gould, both veterans of climate and investigative documentary work. Rather than focusing on the immediate breaking-news coverage of the fire, the documentary picks up more than a year later, exploring the structural and social challenges residents face during reconstruction. The film features interviews with Altadena residents alongside conversations with professionals in climate science, economics, and public policy. The production team is currently evaluating distribution opportunities for the finished documentary.
