After the Siren

After the Siren has been optioned for screen adaptation by Mad Ones Films, the Sydney-based production company behind Sophie Hyde's Jimpa and the SBS Digital Original series Homebodies. The project is based on Darcy Green's debut novel, published by Penguin Random House Australia in September 2025, which follows Jake Cunningham and Theo Bestavros, two AFL players on the fictional Brunswick Falcons who find themselves drawn together despite their rocky start. Producer Liam Heyen will lead development for Mad Ones Films, a company known for championing LGBTQI+ stories. The adaptation marks one of the first Australian queer sports romances being developed for screen. With only an option deal in place and no production timeline announced, the project remains in early development as the creative team assembles.
