Project Summary
A Woman Wants to Die is a Chilean dark comedy-drama directed by Constanza Figari, who also wrote the screenplay. The film stars Paulina García, the Silver Bear-winning actress known for Gloria, alongside singer-actress Dindi Jane. The project is a co-production between Chile's Niña Niño Films, Argentina's Gualicho Cine, and Brazil's Superfilmes, with France's Lilith Films joining as a co-producer at Cannes 2026. Figari describes the screenplay as connected to questions about freedom and the decision to end one's life, themes she has revisited after having a child. The production has secured backing from the Chilean Film Fund, Ibermedia, and Brazil's Ancine. Niña Niño Films, led by producer Roberto Doveris, focuses on projects by women and LGBTQ+ directors and chose García for her ability to navigate the space between drama and comedy, which is central to the film's tone.
