Project Summary
Yellow Chrysanthemum is the feature debut from Japanese-Brazilian director André Hayato Saito, currently in pre-production as an international co-production. The drama follows Erika, a 16-year-old third-generation Japanese-Brazilian who feels disconnected from both her heritage and her homeland, as she confronts a family loss that nobody will acknowledge during Brazil's hosting of the 2014 World Cup. The project is being developed by MyMama Entertainment in Brazil, alongside co-producers One Two Films in Germany, Loaded Films in Japan, and Blue Monday in France, with support from ZDF/ARTE. After winning the TorinoFilmLab Production Award and participating in Cannes Focus Copro, the film is now at the Tokyo Gap-Financing Market seeking to close its final financing. The team is planning to shoot a key Toro Nagashi ceremony sequence in Brazil in November 2026 as part of pre-production.
