Project Summary
VIII: Awakening has wrapped production in Beijing as KC Global Media Asia's first original China production. The fantasy adventure series completed 24 fifteen-minute episodes for its debut season. Director Yu Ji helmed the midform series, with Andy Kaplan and George Chien executive producing for KC Global Media Asia. The production designer role was handled by Meng Xun. The series is a partnership between CICC (China Intercontinental Communication Center) and Shanghai Qi'Ai Film & TV Culture Co. , Ltd. , with KC Global Media Asia handling international sales. The contemporary reimagining of Chinese mythology blends suspense-driven storytelling with fantasy elements and light humor, following an insurance investigator who discovers supernatural abilities and his connection to legendary guardians.
