Untitled Operation Epic Fury Film

Michael Bay is developing a large-scale military action film at Universal Pictures based on the April 2026 rescue mission that recovered two American airmen from the Zagros Mountains of Iran. The untitled project marks Bay's second collaboration with journalist Mitchell Zuckoff, whose forthcoming 2027 HarperCollins book will serve as source material. Bay will direct and produce alongside Erwin Stoff and Scott Gardenhour, the same team behind his 2016 film 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. Gardenhour is adapting the screenplay. The film centers on the high-stakes extraction of a pilot and weapons systems officer whose F-15E Strike Eagle was shot down during Operation Epic Fury. Bay has described the project as a celebration of the complex rescue operation and the service members who answered the call. No production timeline or casting has been announced.
