They Call Him Zorro

They Call Him Zorro is Joe Begos' next feature, a modern horror-action take on Johnston McCulley's legendary masked vigilante. Begos is writing and will direct the film, which follows Diego Vega as he escapes from prison after being framed and launches a no-holds-barred revenge campaign against corruption in contemporary Los Angeles. WTFilms is producing alongside Begos' Channel 83, with the production currently in the financing and casting phase. The search is underway for a Hispanic lead actor to portray the reimagined Zorro, described by the filmmakers as a brutal character closer to The Punisher or The Crow than traditional versions of the folk hero. The film will shoot on location in Los Angeles on 35mm, aiming to capture the visual texture of classic action films like To Live and Die in L. A. and RoboCop.
