The Young Team

The Young Team is a six-part drama series commissioned by BBC and produced by Synchronicity Films. Based on Graeme Armstrong's award-winning debut novel, the series follows Azzy Williams through three crucial years as he becomes drawn into gang culture in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire. Armstrong, whose own experiences inform the story, is writing and executive producing the adaptation. Claire Mundell produces for Synchronicity Films, the team behind The Tattooist of Auschwitz and Mayflies. The series will be set and filmed in North Lanarkshire and will air on BBC iPlayer, BBC Scotland, and BBC One. The production is part of BBC Scotland's significant drama investment following the conclusion of River City, with casting and pre-production underway for a 2026-2027 production window.
