The Roman
Project Summary
The Roman is an eight-episode Netflix drama now in pre-production, with Oscar Isaac attached to star and executive produce. The series reunites Billions creators Brian Koppelman and David Levien as showrunners, with Martin Scorsese executive producing through his Sikelia Productions banner. Isaac plays Bobby Red, a casino president fighting to secure his position in the modernized but dangerous Las Vegas casino business. Betty Gilpin joins as his wife Marla Blake, a brilliant lawyer who knows Vegas as well as her husband, while Alec Baldwin plays Paul 'Primo' Clark, Bobby's surrogate father figure and the organization's chairman. David Costabile rounds out the cast as Bill Saverick, a rival casino operator. J. C. Chandor will direct the first two episodes. Production is targeting a summer 2026 start, with shooting planned for the coming months. Isaac's involvement comes as part of a new first-look deal with Netflix through his Mad Gene production company.
