Martin Charles Scorsese (born November 17, 1942) is widely considered one of the greatest and most influential directors in cinema history, with a career spanning six decades and landmark films including Taxi Driver (Palme d'Or, 1976), Raging Bull, GoodFellas, and The Departed (Academy Award for Best Director, 2007). He operates through his New York-based production banner Sikelia Productions (founded 1989, formerly Cappa Productions), which holds a first-look deal with Apple Original Films/Apple Studios signed in 2020. An ardent film preservationist, he founded The Film Foundation (1990), the World Cinema Foundation (2007), and the African Film Heritage Project (2017). As of mid-2026, his gothic psychological horror film What Happens at Night — starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence — is in post-production for Apple Original Films after shooting began in February 2026 in Europe.
