The Kane Chronicles
Project Summary
The Kane Chronicles is in development at Disney+ as a live-action series, marking Rick Riordan's second major mythology franchise for the streamer following the success of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Angela Robinson, whose credits include True Blood, How to Get Away With Murder, and Wednesday, will create and write the series alongside Riordan, with both serving as executive producers. The project is set up at 20th Television, with Rebecca Riordan and The Gotham Group's Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Jeremy Bell also producing. Based on Riordan's Egyptian mythology trilogy—The Red Pyramid, The Throne of Fire, and The Serpent's Shadow—the series follows siblings Carter and Sadie Kane, powerful magicians descended from pharaohs Narmer and Ramses the Great. The project was previously in development as a film trilogy at Netflix from 2020 to 2024 before the streamer declined to move forward. Disney acquired the rights in 2024, pivoting the property to television.
