Something Strange Happened to Me

Something Strange Happened to Me is a Ukrainian fiction film from director Dmytro Sukholytkyy-Sobchuk, the filmmaker behind Pamfir and Silent Flood. The project follows architecture teacher Svitlana, who offers at-home tutoring while restoring her house after the de-occupation by Russian forces. Her neighbor Korniy performs unconventional psychological techniques, and one day a session triggers mysterious events—students stumble upon a dangerous discovery, and Svitlana and Korniy are transported over 100 years into the past. Sukholytkyy-Sobchuk mortgaged his Kyiv apartment to help fund the film, which is produced by Mellivora Production in co-production with the UK's Wellington Films. The project has secured support from the European Solidarity Fund for Ukrainian Films and has already shot some material. The team is presenting at Venice's Gap-Financing Market in September 2026 to secure co-producers and close the financing.
