Project Summary
Small Prophets is heading back into production for a second season on BBC Two, following the breakout success of its first run which drew 9. 2 million viewers. Created, written, and directed by Mackenzie Crook, the six-episode comedy returns to Manchester to continue the story of Michael Sleep, played by Pearce Quigley, whose search for his missing partner led him to create Homunculi—tiny prophetic spirits—with help from his father Brian, played by Michael Palin. The series is produced by Treasure Trove Productions and Channel X North, with Gill Isles returning as producer and Crook executive producing alongside Lisa Thomas, Alan Marke, and Jim Reid. Apple TV acquired worldwide rights to Season 1 in August 2026, signaling growing international interest. Season 2 is slated for a 2027 premiere, with production details and scheduling still to be announced.
