Sábado Morto

Sábado Morto is currently in production in Pernambuco, Brazil, marking Leonardo Lacca's third feature as writer-director. The film stars Jesuíta Barbosa as Diogo, a medical resident who must return to rural Pernambuco after years away, and features recent breakout Tânia Maria in the cast. Produced by Oscar-nominated Emilie Lesclaux through Cinemascópio in collaboration with Trincheira Filmes and Chilean co-producer Planta, the project represents the third partnership between these production companies following Permanência and Seu Cavalcanti. Principal photography is underway across a five-week schedule, with locations split between Recife and the Arcoverde region in the Pernambuco countryside. Lacca, who previously worked as assistant director and acting coach on Kleber Mendonça Filho's The Secret Agent and Bacurau, reunites with producer Lesclaux for this intimate family drama exploring secrets, memory, and the tension between urban and rural life.
