Project Summary
Pirates of the Caribbean 6 remains in development at Disney, with producer Jerry Bruckheimer actively working on multiple screenplay versions. Oscar-nominated writer Krysty Wilson-Cairns is in talks to pen the script, which may focus on a new female lead played by Margot Robbie alongside Jack Sparrow's son, with Johnny Depp potentially returning in a supporting capacity. Bruckheimer confirmed at D23 in August 2026 that conversations with Depp are ongoing and depend on the final screenplay. The project has cycled through multiple scripts and creative directions since 2019, with no confirmed production timeline, cast, or start date yet announced. Disney's new leadership under CEO Josh D'Amaro has reportedly prioritized reviving the franchise, which has grossed over $4. 5 billion across five films.
