1776 is a cinematic anthology web series that brings the American Revolution to life through visually distinct, character-driven short films. Each episode is designed to immerse audiences in the emotional reality of the era while advancing a new AI-enabled filmmaking pipeline. The animation is fully computer-generated, with performance capture used similarly to video game pipelines to ground characters in real actor movement and timing. The series is produced in partnership with TIME and Google DeepMind and distributed to YouTube under a SAG-AFTRA New Media Non-Dramatic Contract. In this episode, a YouTuber visiting New York in 2026 is suddenly plunged into the Battle of Kips Bay, experiencing the horror as the story of that fateful day magically and violently unfolds around them on the streets of Manhattan. Filming is scheduled for one day in mid-August 2026 in New York, NY.
