Project Summary

Nambeol is a period martial arts action film currently in pre-production at Hive Media Corp. Lee Byung-hun stars as Im Eok, the battle-hardened commander leading a unit of nine warriors from different ranks on a rescue mission to Tsushima Island to free Korean captives taken by Japanese pirates. The project marks the feature directorial debut of veteran cinematographer Lee Mo-gae, whose credits include Exhuma, 12. 12: The Day, I Saw the Devil, and A Tale of Two Sisters. This is the third collaboration between Lee Byung-hun and Hive Media Corp, following Inside Men and The Man Standing Next. Rather than stylized choreography, the film is expected to lean into raw, realistic combat with a gritty visual texture. Principal photography is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026.
