I Want My MTV

I Want My MTV is a feature film adaptation of Craig Marks and Rob Tannenbaum's oral history chronicling the birth and chaotic early years of MTV. Director Geremy Jasper is helming the project from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jim Hecht, both of whom worked at MTV in the 1990s and early 2000s. Neon acquired the package in a competitive situation, with Noah Stahl producing through Cinetic Media alongside Riva Marker of Linden Productions and Glen Powell and Dan Cohen of Barnstorm. Set between 1980 and 1985, the film follows the network's rise from experimental cable channel to pop culture force. Casting is currently underway. The project arrives as MTV recently shuttered its last remaining music-only channels, lending contemporary resonance to this story of media reinvention.
