I Passed This Way
Project Summary
I Passed This Way marks John Sayles' return to directing after more than a decade, with principal photography scheduled for late 2026. The independent Western reunites Oscar winners Amy Madigan and Chris Cooper in a moral drama adapted from Eugene Manlove Rhodes' 1927 novella Pasó Por Aquí. The ensemble cast also includes Thomas Mann, Ted Levine, Ron Perlman, and Cameron Monaghan. Maggie Renzi, Alejandro Springall, and Nadine Luque produce the Spanish-U. S. co-production, with Sayles writing and directing. Filming will take place in the Canary Islands and Almería, Spain, standing in for the arid New Mexico landscape. The project is being introduced to buyers at the Cannes Film Market, with Latido Films handling international sales and UTA Independent Film Group representing North American rights. Sayles, whose career includes Lone Star and Passion Fish, explores themes of justice versus law through the story of a fugitive cowboy forced to choose between freedom and helping a family in desperate need.
