Canada Media Fund

The Canada Media Fund (CMF) is a public-private partnership founded on April 1, 2010, by the Department of Canadian Heritage and the Canadian cable industry to foster, develop, finance, and promote the production of Canadian content and applications for all audiovisual media platforms. Funded by the Government of Canada and Canadian cable, satellite, and IPTV distributors, it is the largest audiovisual content fund in Canada, committing $362.6 million in 2026-2027. The CMF delivers support through two primary streams — the Convergent Stream (television and digital media) and the Experimental Stream (interactive digital media) — while also championing diversity, Indigenous storytelling, and official-language minority communities.
