Project Summary
Galeo of the Seawalkers is an animated feature in advanced development from Indonesian writer-director Andara Fembriarto and Studio Amarana. Canada's BetterHalf Films, operating from Toronto and London, has joined as international co-producer on the project, which adapts Fembriarto's novel and comic book of the same name. The fantasy adventure is set in an oceanic world inspired by Indonesian maritime cultures, featuring floating villages, sea-forests, and people who walk on water. The story follows Galeo, whose fear of disappointing his father becomes his greatest obstacle. The project has development support from the Indonesian cultural ministry and Indonesian streaming platform Rangkai is on board for distribution. The producers are targeting a January 2028 production start and are actively seeking additional international co-producers. The project is being presented at the Vancouver International Film Festival's newly launched Business Hub Co-Production Forum in October 2026.
