Project Summary

Darlene Love: I Know Where I've Been is currently in production as a feature documentary exploring the legendary singer's remarkable journey from studio backing vocalist to Rock & Roll Hall of Fame icon. Directed by Barry Avrich and produced by Taraji P. Henson through TPH Entertainment and Mark Selby via Melbar Entertainment Group, the film examines Love's six-decade career against the backdrop of the civil rights movement and the racial discrimination she navigated throughout her time in the music industry. The documentary features exclusive interviews with Bruce Springsteen, Cher, David Letterman, Dionne Warwick, Nancy Sinatra, Steven Van Zandt, Paul Shaffer, Marc Shaiman, Lou Adler, Jimmy Fallon, and Robert Smigel. Executive producers include Barry Avrich, Mark Selby, Taraji P. Henson, Jamila Jordan-Theus, Tim Drake, and Len Evans. The film tells Love's story in her own words, chronicling her return to an industry that had long overlooked her contributions and her embrace by a new generation of fans.
