Project Summary
Dare to Be Stupid: The Weird Al Musical is in development for Broadway, marking the five-time Grammy winner's theatrical debut. Tony Award-winning director Alex Timbers, known for Moulin Rouge! , will helm the production, with book writers Scott Brown and Anthony King — the team behind Beetlejuice and Gutenberg! The Musical! — collaborating with Yankovic on an original story. The musical will feature Yankovic's beloved catalog of parody hits spanning four decades, including confirmed songs like White & Nerdy, Amish Paradise, Eat It, Smells Like Nirvana, and Like a Surgeon. Tony-winning production company Seaview is attached to produce. No production timeline, theater, or additional creative team members have been announced yet, though the project represents a rare fusion of satirical music and Broadway storytelling aimed at both theater enthusiasts and pop-culture fans.
