Betty Boop

Betty Boop is heading back to theaters for the first time since the 1930s in a live-action feature that takes an unexpected angle on the Jazz Age icon. Quinta Brunson will develop, produce, and star as Betty Boop in a character study that examines the relationship between the animated legend and her creator, Max Fleischer. The project reunites Brunson's Fifth Chance Productions with Mark Fleischer, grandson of the original creator, alongside Fleischer Studios as producing partners. Erin Wehrenberg, Fifth Chance's head of creative affairs, is overseeing development. Rather than a straightforward adaptation, the film will trace how Betty evolved from Max Fleischer's creation into a cultural phenomenon, exploring the creative and commercial pressures of building one of animation's first major icons. The project is currently in development with no production schedule announced yet.
