Project Summary
Wekiwa is an original creature feature written and directed by Oscar-winning sound designer Richard L. Anderson, marking his return to narrative filmmaking. The 1983-set horror film stars Billy Zane as a British documentary director who arrives at a Florida island resort with four performers to shoot a commercial for a struggling showman. When a marine biologist investigates disturbances in the lagoon, the crew discovers the island holds dark secrets the local Seminole have warned about for centuries. The project is produced by Salomé Breziner and Scott Rosenfelt, with the producing team emphasizing Anderson's four-decade expertise in sound design to create suspense through what audiences hear before they see. Production is scheduled to begin in September 2026 near Orlando, offering opportunities for Florida-based crew across all departments on this independent horror feature.
