Project Summary
The Second Lady is a thriller series in development at Amazon Prime Video, adapted from Irving Wallace's bestselling Cold War novel. Jessica Sharzer is writing the adaptation and will executive produce, bringing her experience from American Horror Story, Nine Perfect Strangers, and A Simple Favor. Kevin Williamson and Ben Fast of Outerbanks Entertainment are also executive producing alongside Peter J. Donaldson, who represents the Wallace literary estate. Universal Television is producing the series under Sharzer's mini first-look deal with the studio. The project landed at Amazon in a competitive situation, marking the first sale from Universal Television's new mini-deal model launched in 2025. While no production timeline has been announced, the series joins the growing slate of high-concept thrillers at the streaming platform.
