About

Outerbanks Entertainment is an American film and television production company founded on June 29, 1995 by writer-producer Kevin Williamson, best known for creating the Scream franchise, Dawson's Creek, and The Vampire Diaries. The company operates as Williamson's primary production banner, specializing in genre-driven drama, horror, and supernatural thriller content for both television and film. In December 2023, Williamson and Outerbanks entered into a multi-year overall deal with Universal Television, with projects including The Waterfront (Netflix, 2025) and Scream 7 (Paramount, 2026). The company's name is a reference to Williamson's roots in Oriental, North Carolina.
