Project Summary

The King's Tailor marks the directorial feature debut of actor Pedro Casablanc, who draws on his own childhood memories growing up in his family's tailor shop in Casablanca. The film follows Pablo, a young boy whose innocent worldview begins to fracture as he uncovers the secrets concealed by the adults in his life. Set against the backdrop of 1960s Morocco during the Franco regime, the story weaves together family drama and political thriller elements amid a world of fabric scraps, hidden passages, illegal gambling, and international characters. Fernando Navarro wrote the screenplay, and the cast includes Jesús Carroza, Natalia de Molina, Alberto Ammann, and Alec Baldwin. The production is led by Álvaro Ariza for Esto también pasará and María Luisa Gutiérrez Gómez for Bowfinger International Pictures, with co-production from Mexico's Studio 33 and Spain's Glow Animation. Netflix, RTVE, Canal Sur, and Movistar Plus+ are all involved. Principal photography began in late May 2026, with filming taking place in Granada, Spain.
