The Imaginary Kings

The Imaginary Kings is a debut feature from director and writer Eire Cid, currently in development through the 9th edition of Madrid Film School's ECAM Incubator program. The project is produced by Bea Villar and Cristela Torres of Brava. Described as an irreverent and visceral examination of male urban youth, the film follows Rude, a teenager grappling with masculinity and grief in a working-class port city. The story explores themes of vulnerability and empathy in contemporary working-class communities. The film is set to shoot in Vigo, Spain, with production planned for late 2027. Cid's background includes work in feminist film theory and previous web series projects, while producer Villar has focused on stories about underrepresented young people.
