The Future Is Ours
Project Summary
The Future Is Ours (El futuro es nuestro) is currently in production as Netflix's first Spanish-language adaptation of a Philip K. Dick novel. The eight-episode limited series is led by showrunner Mateo Gil, with directing duties shared among Vicente Amorim, Daniel Rezende, and Jesús Braceras. The dystopian drama brings together a Latin American cast and crew, with principal photography underway across Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay. K&S Films and Electric Shepherd Productions are producing, with Isa Dick Hackett executive producing alongside Matías Mosteirín, Diego Copello, Emiliano Torres, Micky Buye, and Analía Castro. The series reimagines Dick's 1956 novel within a climate-crisis framework, following a police officer tracking a young preacher who claims to see the future. Netflix is targeting a 2026 release for the ambitious production, which the streamer has positioned alongside One Hundred Years of Solitude and The Eternaut in scale and complexity.
