The Favorite Daughter

The Favorite Daughter is a Brazilian drama entering pre-production under director Rafaela Camelo, following her 2025 Berlin premiere of The Nature of Invisible Things. Luciana Paes and Camila Márdila have been cast as sisters Amélia and Luiza in this family drama that becomes a road movie through the backlands of Ceará. When Luiza returns from Germany for what she expects to be a brief family visit, the sisters learn their father has a third daughter—a revelation that upends their relationship. The script is co-written by Camelo and André Araújo. Allan Deberton and Marcelo Pinheiro are producing for Brazil's Deberton Filmes, with Maritza Grass and Vincent Edusei producing for Germany's Carousel Film. The film is gearing up to shoot in 2026, with the story exploring sibling rivalry, family secrets, and the search for identity beyond inherited roles.
