Project Summary
The Con of Wrath: The Craziest Convention Ever! is a feature-length documentary now in production with the Nacelle Company. Directed by Star Trek historian Larry Nemecek, who attended the original 1982 Ultimate Fantasy event in Houston, the film chronicles what happened when an ambitious arena-scale Star Trek convention featuring appearances by William Shatner, Nichelle Nichols, George Takei, Walter Koenig, DeForest Kelley, and Kirstie Alley drew only 1,200 fans to a 16,000-seat venue. The project has been in development since 2010, with Nemecek and cinematographer Neal Hallford conducting extensive interviews with cast members, attendees, dealers, and convention staff. Executive producers include Brian Volk-Weiss, Bailee Rackie, and Davina Dobrovech. Production companies attached are the Nacelle Company, Bambooshed Productions, MyStar Media, and Swords & Circuitry Studios. The documentary explores how the cast, vendors, and fans worked to salvage the weekend despite organizational failures. No release date has been announced, though recent reports indicate the film may be approaching completion for a 2027 release.
