Project Summary
Secret of Life is a four-part television series chronicling the life of British scientist Rosalind Franklin. Written by Franklin's great-niece Jessica Franklin and directed by Valerie Weiss, the series takes a comprehensive look at Franklin's achievements across three core sciences as she worked in Paris and London studying molecular structures of carbons and DNA. Elizabeth Bay Productions is producing, with Dennis Davidson and Grant Hill leading the production company behind Terrence Malick's A Hidden Life. Weiss, who directed episodes of Outer Banks and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, also serves as executive producer alongside Eugin Koh. Casting is being led by Shakyra Dowling, and WestEnd Films is handling international sales at MIPCOM Cannes. The project is distinct from the Tom Hooper film adaptation of Photograph 51 starring Natalie Portman, taking a broader view of Franklin's life and scientific legacy beyond her DNA research.
