Project Summary
PLAYMALE is based on the true story of Lou Zivkovich, a former pro football player whose career is cut short by injury. Adrift and out of options, he takes a job as a high school football coach in a conservative desert town, where he's respected by his students but struggling to accept a life smaller than the one he lost. Still hungry for the validation football once gave him, Lou becomes an unlikely Playgirl centerfold and a cultural flashpoint in 1974 America. What begins as a financial decision quickly erupts into a national scandal that threatens his career, marriage, and reputation. The film captures a pivotal moment in American culture when liberalism and backlash collided, and one man found himself naked in the middle of it. The feature film is a SAG-AFTRA Ultra Low Budget production filming June through August in Los Angeles, produced by Heather Turman and Dave Lawrence, and directed by Dave Lawrence.
