Project Summary

My Big Day is a feature documentary commissioned by Netflix, produced by Optomen. The film follows young couples from Britain's Traveller community through the build-up to their weddings, examining how family expectations and social media influence have transformed these ceremonies into increasingly elaborate celebrations. Director Jonny Ashton, known for his work on Freddie Flintoff's Field of Dreams on Tour, leads the production, with Tyler Knight producing. Optomen co-CEOs Nick Hornby and Tina Flintoff serve as creative directors. The documentary frames these weddings as both celebrations and rites of passage, particularly for young women entering adulthood. Optomen has built a relationship with the Traveller community through their work on At Home With the Furys, Netflix's ongoing docuseries about boxer Tyson Fury and his family. The production company is part of Banijay Entertainment.
