Mushroom Murders

Mushroom Murders is a six-episode limited series greenlit at Paramount+ that dramatizes one of Australia's most notorious true crime cases. Emmy-nominated actress Melanie Lynskey stars as Erin Patterson and serves as executive producer on the project. The series was created by Anya Beyersdorf, Daina Reid, and Deb Balderstone, with Reid directing all six episodes. Beyersdorf is writing the scripts alongside Dianne Taylor and Belinda Chayko. The series focuses on the 97-day period between the July 2023 lunch in Leongatha, Victoria, where Patterson served toxic death cap mushrooms hidden in beef Wellingtons to her estranged in-laws and their relatives, and her eventual arrest. Three guests died and a fourth survived after weeks of hospitalization. Soapbox Pictures is producing the series, which is set to film in Victoria. The project was announced at the Australian TV upfronts and represents a major scripted commission for Paramount+'s 2027 slate.
