Maniac Cop

Maniac Cop marks Nicolas Winding Refn's return to feature filmmaking following the Cannes premiere of Her Private Hell. The project, which Refn has developed for over a decade, is a radical new take on William Lustig's 1988 cult slasher about a uniformed killer stalking city streets. Mubi is fully financing the film and will distribute across North America, Latin America, the U. K. , Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Benelux, Turkey, Australia, and New Zealand, with a wide theatrical release planned. Goodfellas is co-producing, with Veterans handling international sales for remaining territories. Refn directs and produces through his byNWR Originals banner, with Christina Erritzøe and Kimberly Willming as executive producers; Vincent Maraval executive produces for Goodfellas. Production is set to begin in Los Angeles in January 2027, with casting currently underway.
