Mubi

MUBI is a British-headquartered global streaming service, production company, and film distributor founded in 2007 by Efe Cakarel (originally as 'The Auteurs', rebranded in 2010). Available in over 190 countries with more than 16 million members, MUBI specialises in curated arthouse, independent, and world cinema, offering a hand-picked rotating library of films alongside theatrical distribution across the US, UK, Europe, and Latin America. In addition to streaming, MUBI publishes the film criticism platform and print magazine Notebook, operates MUBI GO (weekly cinema tickets in select markets), runs MUBI Editions (books), and in 2022 acquired The Match Factory (international sales and production) and in 2024 a majority stake in Benelux distributor Cinéart. Valued at $1 billion following a $100 million Sequoia Capital investment in May 2025, MUBI has emerged as a major arthouse studio competitor to A24 and Neon, with breakout hits including The Substance (2024), which grossed $77 million worldwide.
