Mamma Dunhuang

Mamma Dunhuang marks the return of acclaimed Chinese auteur Jia Zhangke, who directs this feature reuniting him with stars Zhao Tao and Liao Fan, both of whom previously collaborated with the director on Ash Is Purest White. The film is a co-production between MK2 Films, led by Nathanael and Elisha Karmitz, and Jia's Beijing-based production company Xstream Pictures. Production is set to begin shooting this winter, with the story centered on a mother's AI-assisted journey across China from the historic Silk Road city of Dunhuang to the country's eastern regions. The project has been in development with MK2 for the past two years and represents another collaboration between the French production banner and one of China's most internationally recognized filmmakers.
