Maharaja Tomare Selam

Maharaja Tomare Selam is a Bengali-language biographical drama from director Srijit Mukherji, chronicling the making of Satyajit Ray's celebrated 1969 fantasy film Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne. Named after a famous song from the original film, the project centers on Ray himself and the challenges he navigated in bringing the iconic musical adventure to screen against the backdrop of politically turbulent late-1960s Kolkata. Mukherji, a National Award-winning filmmaker known for his engagement with Bengali cultural history, reunites with actor Jeetu Kamal, who previously portrayed a Ray-inspired character in Anik Dutta's Aparajito. The cast also includes Ritwik Bhowmik, Rudranil Ghosh, Satakshi Nandy, Sairity Banerjee, and Arijit Dutta. Hoichoi Studios and Friends Communication are producing in association with Piyali Films, the original production company behind Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne. Principal photography is scheduled to commence in January 2027, with the production filming in Kolkata.
