Project Summary
Magnum Opus marks Romanian director Bogdan Mirică's return to feature filmmaking with a satirical take on the creator economy and image obsession. The tragicomedy follows Alex, a filmmaker convinced his uber-famous actor father sabotaged his latest film, who launches a chaotic investigation that collides with his family, crew, and police. Produced by deFilm with co-producers Lava Films, the project secured Eurimages development funding and is being presented at Venice's Gap-Financing Market. The cast includes Vlad Brumaru, Vlad Ivanov, and Iulian Postelnicu. Producers Ioana Lascar and Radu Stancu are packaging the film as a genre-blending detective story with black comedy elements. Principal photography is scheduled to begin in mid-September 2026, immediately following the Venice festival.
