Project Summary
"The Last Piano in Afghanistan" is inspired by the life of ethnomusicologist Dr. Ahmad Sarmast. He moved from Afghanistan to Australia during the Taliban's rule, but returned after the US-led invasion. In Afghanistan, he founded the Afghanistan National Institute of Music and faced numerous challenges, including death threats and a Taliban suicide bombing. Despite the difficulties, he taught children about the importance of global music.
