Project Summary
In 1946, young Amerigo left Naples on a train with thousands of other Southern children. They were part of a Communist Party initiative to help children escape poverty after the war. Amerigo, with the innocence of his seven years and street-smart demeanor, reveals a post-war Italy in its early stages of recovery. He shares a poignant tale of separation, a universal experience of growing up that cannot be avoided.
